Check Out My New Place In Coral Gables, FL

May 31st, 2008 by Amit

I’m finally settled in to my new place in Coral Gables, which is a suburb of Miami.

Check it out…

The food, the culture, and just about everything else in Coral Gables ROCKS! For Shilpi and I it’s been a total upgrade from the condo we had in Boston.

As soon as we get back to Boston in 6 months we’re going to start hunting for a condo in Back Bay that will top our place in Coral Gables. Once you upgrade your lifestyle, it really bites to have to take it back down a notch.

None of this would have been possible if I wasn’t a super affiliate. The rent on our Coral Gables place is double the mortgage payment on my place in Boston, which by the way I’m still paying in full.

Even if I was a big shot in the corporate world and had the money to cover a hefty rent plus a mortgage, I wouldn’t have the freedom to move down here.

Affiliate income represent REAL FREEDOM. There’s nothing like it in the world! )

May 30th, 2008 by Rachel Segal

Members of leading blog network using new PicApp image platform for sourcing, illustrating and enhancing photos, artwork; bloggers to provide feedback for future development

SAN FRANCISCO and TORONTO – May 30, 2008 – PicScout has begun working with b5media, a global new media network featuring a diverse range of more than 350 blogs, to use the PicApp platform of premium, licensed images and photos for enhancing news and creative content across a select group of blogs. PicApp provides licensed images from a broad group of premiere news and stock photo agencies, giving bloggers and other online publishers legal access to millions of images, while addressing content owners’ usage tracking and copyright concerns.

Once at www.picapp.com, bloggers can select any of the wide range of images for free and use them adjacent to a news post or editorial content on their sites. When the image is streamed from the PicApp servers, it comes with a non-intrusive ad that provides a monetization tool on the content owner’s behalf.

“PicApp offers our bloggers tremendous selection in terms of the range and types of content they provide,” said Jeremy Wright, b5media chief executive officer. “As content creators, ensuring all the images we use are legal is extremely important to us. PicApp has proven to be a valuable resource for the bloggers involved so far. We look forward to continuing to work together to develop a solution for the entire network, so that all b5media bloggers feel assured they are using legal images at all times.”

b5media includes 12 vertical channels of blogs covering a wide variety of subjects ranging from entertainment, beauty and fashion to technology, general news and sports. Participating bloggers can find great breaking news photos of celebrities and athletes as they make history and pictures of tech industry breakthroughs moments after they are announced, as well as lifestyle stock photography shots on almost any topic imaginable. The b5media network is home to more than 250 bloggers and receives more than 10 million unique visitors per month.

“We were privileged to cooperate with the b5media team ever since we started our closed beta and are very proud they picked PicApp as a source of images for their many authors,” Eyal Gura, chief executive officer, PicScout, said. “Getting their input early on, and now on an ongoing basis, has been instrumental in ensuring that the development of the PicApp platform is addressing the ever-evolving needs of bloggers.”

PicApp is currently in beta. News and photo agencies licensing images to PicApp include Getty Images, Corbis and Image Source with more content partnerships coming soon. Interested bloggers can go to www.picapp.com to start getting images to enhance the content at their sites.

There’s a Secret to Every Affiliate Niche…

May 29th, 2008 by Amit

Shew! Finally, moved into my new place in Coral Gables. Exhausted today, tomorrow I’ll give you a video walk through of my new place - it’s AMAZING. Miami is Amazing, my wife and I absolutely love it here.

I’m going to make this short and sweet, since I’ve been completely slammed the last week with moving in, and I’m still tying up some lose ends.

Here’s the Super Affiliate Tip for today : In PPC Affiliate Marketing there’s a Secret to every niche you go into. Once you discover this Secret, you’ve unlocked the key to making massive profits in that niche.

Really.

For a while now I’ve attempted to automate the process of going into completely different niches and cranking out campaign after campaign. Every time I’ve attempted this I’ve failed.

Every time I’ve taken time to carefully study a niche, dropped a bunch of money just testing it from different angles, I’ve succeeded.

So how do you crack the secret to big profits in an affiliate niche?

Whether it’s ringtones, dating, herbal remedies, or whatever, here’s what you need to do :

Test content vs search. Some markets do really well of content and poorly on search, some do great on search but suck on content. Some do great on both. You need to TEST THIS.

Test your Google Adcopy. This is a REALLY important and it’s amazing that most affiliates don’t take the time to really do this rigorously. You need to understand the emotional hot buttons in your niche and put them into your ads.

Getting your ads right can spell the difference between being highly profitable and losing money like a sieve - this includes what domain name you choose.

Keyword Research : Have you thought of all the different types of keywords you can bid on for your niche? Do you know what types of keywords generate the best conversions? Does having state/city names in your keywords help? Do keywords with words like “buy”,”discount”,”sale” in them convert well?

Understanding what types of keywords convert best in your market and making sure your bidding high on these keywords is CRUCIAL.

Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Make sure you put together a REALLY thorough keyword list that’s nice and broad.
  2. Carefully tracking which keywords are converting and look for PATTERNS. Use what you learn to expand your keyword list and come up with new keywords ideas.

Bidding on the right keywords and getting good ad placement for the keywords that convert is a BIG part of the Secret to any niche.

In most cases newbie affiliate are missing 80%-90% of the converting keywords. They’re either not bidding on these 90% of keywords, or their bidding too low on them so they get barely on impressions for them without even realizing it. BIG TIP : Keywords that convert really well have a higher CPC.

Landing Page :

Do you know what type of landing page works best in your market? Review site, optin page, or straight sales page?? Look at what your competition is doing, and if necessary test several different types of landing pages to see what works best.

Do you know what type of copy or page layout will pull your visitors in to click through to the merchant and make a purchase? Keep testing until you find something that works.

I’m not going to lie to you, testing and studying are niches is not always fun. And sometimes it can be quite expensive.

But let’s put things in perspective, let’s say you bust your butt and spend a good 2 months testing and trying different angles on a market you knew is profitable. You finally found a landing page that converted really well, high CTR/high converting Google ad copy, and what type of keywords are pulling in all the sales.

Now you’re making $500/day in profit -> that’s $15k/month! )

Do you think it was worth it?

PS Once you’ve cracked the Secret to a market you need to totally focus your effort on building up your campaign and scaling it like crazy. Don’t go into another market until you’ve squeeze every last cent of profit out of that market and have created a solid income stream that will last years.

Generating Traffic with the Publicity Wheel

May 24th, 2008 by Bill Hartzer

Guest Post by Mark Schumann

There are many ways to increase traffic and exposure for your website, but these techniques can often take a long time and provide frustratingly minimal results. Instead, try to imagine what could happen if your site was being advertised on hundreds of similar sites continuously for several days. This is the goal of the Publicity Wheel, a new concept for generating a boost in traffic and exposure for website owners. Rather than the banner/link exchanges used to generate a steady trickle of visitors, the Publicity Wheel aims to give one website (per category) full exposure and resultant benefits in traffic for an extended period of time.

Publicity Wheel Homepage

It works by providing a piece of code to site owners that will generate the banner/link to the currently-featured site within a particular category. Every time a visitor clicks on one of these links, the Publicity Wheel member is given an associated number of “publicity points”. These points then contribute to the selection of the forthcoming featured site generated during the next “spin”. Consider a “wheel of fortune” scenario, where each publicity point owned provides one “slice” of the wheel. It’s also like a lottery, but instead of buying a new ticket after each draw, points continue to accumulate even after a winner is selected, so members have a much better chance to win over time. Winner points are reset to zero to avoid having the same sites featured each round. This allows sites with low-traffic to benefit by still having a chance of winning each round, even with a small number of points.

Background
The Publicity Wheel was launched in early April 2008 by myself, Mark Schumann (follow me on Twitter). I work as an e-Learning Developer in a K-12 school in Melbourne, Australia, and own 2 other websites. The first is Edutagger, a K-12 social bookmarking site (much like Digg), which was developed primarily to provide K-12 teachers with a repository of quality resources. The second is a concept known as the Fame Experiment, which is where the original idea for the Publicity Wheel was born.

The Fame Experiment, as the name implies, is an experiment on the internet fame and society’s response to it. I had wondered about this phenomenon, where (often by accident) certain people had become famous overnight for any number of reasons. I questioned whether this fame was restricted to the internet, and whether these people were being recognised and approached in “real life”. As a result, the Fame Experiment was developed in an attempt to artificially generate fame by promoting a single person’s image to as may places online as possible. Fame points are generated in the same was as publicity points, but there is only one winner. Incidentally, this winner is yet to be selected as the experiment is still running.

Over time, I noticed a number of people signing up to the Fame Experiment with the hope of achieving “fame” for their websites, which of course sparked the idea for the Publicity Wheel. The concept is similar, but the implementation and goals are very different. Instead of one winner, the Publicity Wheel generates one winner for each category, and repeats to process every few days.

The Publicity Wheel certainly isn’t for everyone, but it provides a great alternative approach to internet marketing and traffic-building that is simple to setup and use.

Golden Nuggets From The Masters

May 23rd, 2008 by Thomas

I’m a firm believer in the power of nuggets. Information nuggets that is - not the mystery stuff you order from a “value” *cough* menu with a large fries and shake.

What I like to do is bookmark the video clips, interesting interviews, etc. I come across while online and then pick a time to sit down and marinate on them. I search for the “nuggets” that I can pull out and apply instantly to my life in some way.

Here are a few I enjoyed you might want to check out.

Sir Richard Branson - interviewed by Joe Polish. I have much respect for this man. Humble, successful and an all-around great guy.

Interview (part 1) Run Time - 21:47
Interview (part 2) Run Time - 19:44
Interview (part 3) Run Time - 23:24

Warren Buffett - His greatest secrets in just 7 Minutes. Forget black cards, Warren rocks a MickeyDee’s GOLD card so he can eat free forever ) The best advice in life always seems to be straight forward and simple. Why do we always have to complicate things when we should just shut up and listen to those who have the results?

Warren Buffett Video Run Time - 7:23

Kiva.org - Yes, you and I are selfish and we have it good. Kiva is a brilliant idea and a great example of the benefits of technology. Next time your frustrated with your current ROI and might have to wait until next week to buy that 65′ inch plasma, go micro-finance a real struggling entrepreneur. It will make everyone feel better.

Check out how Kiva works Run Time - 3:55
